Logo Design

For the upcoming bag collection that I am currently working on I decided to design a logo for it. I guess it is somewhat of a sneak preview. :)

Business Card 4 and Final Website Design

I'm liking this one. I might get this one printed. Even though I said it for most of the ones I've created.

As for website. It took me forever, but I finally came up with a design that is simple yet funky and fun.

When hovering over the link the image of my logo will appear. Each link is a different expression. I'm loving this one. :)

Type Post Card Design

Done for my typography class. I asked the question "What was your most craziest New Yorker story. Based on the information I took specific words and complied it into a design. The yellow represents one of the main words that was brought up as the person told me the story. On the back it states the statistic stating that "15 out of 15 people said that their encounter was with a homeless person". I also created the color palette.

Another Business Card

Ok...I am almost satisfied with this. I just can figure out what type to use. I like the simple colors, the simply outline...It is very clean. I am almost there.

Rants Raves...PLUS I GOT AN INTERNSHIP!! WHAA???

I am starting to question the real reason why people are coming to SVA. I mean, yea they say for an education, but is that the real reason. For example, I talk to my friend and ask him how his classes are going, he usually responds, it’s ok, I skip, or that I skip to do my homework at the last minute. He then starts bragging about the DJ gigs that he gets and parties that he goes to. How he is so busy because of all the "DJ-ing" that he does. Well, it’s like, how in the world do you have all that time to dj and go to school? I'm honestly starting to believe that this kid does not care that he is at one of top design schools. I think the only reason why he is up here is to have that half dj and graphic designer living in New York persona. I have a feeling that he is not the only one who is here for those reasons. For me...I have wanted to come to this school since junior year of high school. I almost didn't even make it up here because of financial issues, but I went to community college, kept in contact with the school, and with the love and support of my family I made it up here. It took me forever to get here and I am working hard and taking in every opportunity that this school has offered me. Unlike some people, I am not going to let myself get caught up in this NYC dreamland deal, I am here and I mean business. I don't want to let myself down nor family down. I mean, the opportunities that this school offers are just amazing, and the teachers are the highest in their field. They are taking their time off from what they do and are here teaching us things that will help us succeed in becoming a successful and creative designer. Why take this opportunity of being at this school for granite?

So, I was flipping through this magazine call Student Buyers Hand Guide, and I see an offer from this photo video supply company that gives out discounts to students and teacher on all their items. It’s BHPhotoVideo and they carry everything from professional video equipment to mp3 players. You have to be majoring in some form of visual arts and you have to do is fill out a form and send in a school id and schedule to verify and you will get a card. I mean, these discounts are insane. It is cheaper than going to my schools computer store. And you can use it online or in their stores. GOOD DEAL!!! BHPhotoVideo Student Advantage

So, this Thursday I am holding auditions for my film. This will be very interesting since I have never held any auditions in my life. So, in my mind it will be like American Idol (YEA! I SAID IT...LOL) I will get the good and the bad. I just hope that I find the right people to play these parts.

So, a week ago I saw a listing asking for interns at an indie magazine. I saw their site and their work and it looks legit....It has a kind of a urban vogue-ish beat to it. Very stylish and sophisticated, but very pop and upbeat....It is a paid internship...doing layouts, posters, working with the editor, etc so i replied...sending them my resume and portfolio since they asked for it. So, I didn't hear anything from them...and i was like...meh...I guess they don't like my work either...then....YESTERDAY!!!...I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM THEM FOR A PHONE INTERVIEW!!! ASKING ME QUESTIONS, QUALIFICATIONS, ETC.! AND SHE WAS LIKE...CAN U COME IN FRIDAY FOR A FORMAL INTERVIEW AND INTRODUCTION TO THE COMPANY...WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE U!!!! OMFG!!!!!! I know, I know, I have been going crazy with homework...being very tire and etc., but this is a paid internship, and I only have to come in 3 days a week on that days that I am off. Plus, it is a job where I am doing something that I love, and it fits my style (if I have one) so why not take in the opportunity. The owner even said that I can come in and do my homework there, so that is also a big plus. The only thing is that it is a fashion oriented magazine and I have no sense of style what so ever....I guess this is why it is an internship :)

Quick Thought Done on Photoshop

So, it is 4:00 a.m....and for some reason I can't sleep because I have this thought sticking in my mind. I remember talking to my best friend about how Apple merchandise has a certain sex appeal. And, I was thinking....they do have a sex appeal to it. It's very sleek, and stylish. I pretty much had to do a quick design that will be useful to me later on. Hopefully, I can sleep now...LOL! :)

Visual Language Integration: Magazine

Another assignment that I am working on in my graphic communication class. We have to select a luxury fashion brand and design a single page ad promoting a season collection. This is the beginning of the assignment so of course things will get changed. We can not use their logos, but the hardest thing is her name is her logo. So, what I did was find the closest thing to matching the type used in her logo and pretty much secretly worked it in with the design. I mean, why go away from their style. I like the winter design.

Who Ever Said Junior Year Is the Hardest Year Is Right

So, how is my junior year going so far you may ask. Well....I am officially stressed out. Yea, Yea, I know I was all happy about school starting, but now that I see how much work load I'm getting, I wish it was break again. I guess the main reason why I was so eager to start was because I would be away from home and that I would get to see my friends again. Being the fact that I have 6 classes 3 of which is difficult, I am ready for winter break. Everything that I had planned to do this year, I have a feeling that I will not happen seeing that I am always doing homework. That Halloween Parade I was talking about...I didn't go because that week I got popped with tons of homework in communication design and motion graphics. I pretty much spent my Halloween doing homework and eating pizza...what fun!

I'm usually not the one to show or get stressed out. In, fact I am usually the person who calms people down when they are stressed, but lately I have just been showing it. I've been very moody, tired, and just been getting easily annoyed with the littlest of things. I especially get annoyed when people talk about the party they went to and all the shit they did that week, because its like...well that's good for you, but while you were partying I was working on 3 assignments in graphic communication, 2 assignments for type, my main project for motion, and my film...so GOOD FOR YOU! My friends are even beginning to notice it. I mean....I still love what I do, I will always love graphic design and motion graphics, but it just seems like so much is getting piled on me at the same time. It's just hard for me to balance one project after another. I just need a break.

I was just thinking that if this semester is already making me go bonkers, then next semester I will go absolutely crazy.LOL!...I have 4 things that I will have to do which is seriously major. I have to shoot and edit my film, make my portfolio, work on my motion graphic projects( and apparently next semester is when we get all the major projects), and look for internships. All that I will have to do by the end of the year. All these things are major and very time consuming. Not only that, but I still will have homework coming in from other classes. And the work has to be good, so that I can put it into my portfolio. I mean, not so much the print, but I want to have enough strong motion graphic pieces to show to companies. And so far I have none that I think is good for my portfolio. Mainly because a lot of it is stuff I did for practice, but I just have a feeling that I won't have anything good to present to them. I DON'T KNOW....my teacher likes my stuff..he tells me that this is your nitch, but when I look at other peoples stuff I'm like....are you sure....I DON'T KNOW...It's the stress taking over...AHHHH!!!!!.......*head hits table*
